I have always been crazy about motorbikes, and speed as far back as 10-years old
when I pushed my pal off his moto X motorbike and disappeared off for an hour, on
his bike, until his father caught me, and well that enough said about that !
Kirkcaldy high school, had Motorcyles, which required attention, which I duly gave
then on a Friday evening, so I kept my hand in with the old flying lap round the
playground on the Honda 400 four, that impressed the girls, at that time.
Then once I turned 16years old bribed my mum and dad to purchase me a new 50cc Derbi
trails bike at the sum of £1299, which was in 1985, from there a Suzuki GS125 Gs,
then GSX550ES, then Yamaha FZ750 Genesis, which was the famous one which landed
me in trouble
I was and still are the luckised boy on earth to survive a head on collision with
a Ford transist van , in 1988, just outside Kirkcaldy, at the speed of 130mph ,
and the van doing 60mph, well we will just say, my number wasn’t up !
Lesson to learned third party fire and theft isn’t much good !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also Gap Insurance !
After that i would sneak out and grab a shot on my pals bike (Suzuki GSXR11000)
every Sunday for a few hours.
Then I had always been an active member of Kirkcaldy Motorcycle Club, which ran
the Beveridge Park Race’s and the Scottish Road Races at Knockhill, so I got roped
into marshalling at the 1987 British grand prix at donnington park, where I picked
Wayne Gardiner World champion coming out of Goddards Exit , when he high sided himself,
this was recoreded on BBC , News and Grandstand , I was a international star !
Then again thaty tear I was caught on Television sleeping on top of tyres marshalling
at Knockhill .
Well since all the sbove, I have had a few bikes , 3 Boxer Cup Race Bikes, which
I may add was in Ride Magazine in November, and just purchased a K1200R, to go with
my Sad to say 50th Anniversary, Yamaha R1.
Also this year I will be riding a BMW on the John Clark Ride Outs!!!!!!1
I have Been now 4 years as Motorcycle Manager, at John Clark Tayside, and have enjoyed

At Tayside we currently have John Dolan, Paul Bate, John has worked at John Clark
(Tayside) for the last 7 years and has served as a motorcycle tech for around 5
of those years, he has a great passion, for BMW Motorcycles, and looks for to seeing
you on the bike runs this year.
Also John is an Ice Hockey celebrity, in Dundee as he plays for the local team.
Paul Bate on the other hand just loves bikes and since leaving school has worked
for 15-years on the BMW products range with Paul taking on the role as head mechanic
in the summer of 1996.
Paul would like to get out more on a bike but due to the increased volume in sales
last year I think he was out a dozen if that times on the road.
If you have a problem with your bike then please feel free to pop round for a chat,
and the workshop team will help with any query you may have.
