Travelling in style has been made possible with the new BMW K 1600 GT. Standing for Gran Turismo, the K 1600 GT merges fantastic looks and styling with efficient dynamics and endless comfort ensuring an enjoyable journey no matter the distance. To the observer, the K 1600 GT has a formidable presence, with a somewhat tall appearance as a result of the full wind breaker screen which helps to reduce noise to the rider and improve aerodynamics. The 1,649 cc engine is housed beneath smooth fairings, which perfectly compliment the flow of the bike with carefully crafted lines adding to the sleek persona of the GT. However, the bike still retains a sense of finesse, craftsmanship and beauty. Each piece of fairing has been meticulously constructed with the whole motorbike in mind, ensuring the rider is kept comfortable whilst maximising on riding dynamics.
The essence of a Gran Turismo bike has been kept at the heart of the hugely refined engine, with plenty of power on tap for a more spirited journey whilst still able to smoothly deliver power consistently for optimum cruising. With a power output of 160 bhp and generating 175 Nm of torque at 5,250 RPM, the K 1600 GT provides plenty of low end power with over 70% of this available from just 1,500 rpm. Top end speed is also available as the bike isl capable of achieving over 200 km/h, but it's the mid-range where the K 1600 GT really comes into its own. Transversely installed power units allow for even power delivery making for a truly remarkable cruising experience, as the throttle response has been perfectly tuned to match the revolutions of the engine, meaning the rider can comfortably vary the riding speed without upsetting the balance of the bike.
BMW Motorrad Duolever front suspension has been coupled with a Paralever rear suspension to make sure the rider remains comfortable on a wide range of road surfaces and situations. Dual disc brakes and multi-piston brake calipers have been installed for maximum stopping power, combined with on-board computer systems that work in conjunction with the suspension and throttle to calculate the optimum braking and power delivery for an even smoother operation. Other technology like an Adaptive Headlight is available to provide even greater visibility whilst riding, particularly through bends.
