Starting their journey on Sunday the 30th May 2010, “Team Pie” will be undertaking another fundraising challenge cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats in memory of their friend, partner and daughter, Carol Ann Davidson who died of cancer in 2007, aged just 28 years old.   Inspired by Carol Ann’s brave fight against cancer they chose their team name from her nickname ‘Pie’ and have raised an overwhelming £11,000 in her memory to date and continue to raise funds by organising race nights, car washing, cycle events and to top it all, Allan Thomas climbed to the summit of Mount Everest.

Sponsored by Clark Commercials, Specialist Cars Volkswagen and Aberdeen Audi, the team of nine friends and family members are all cycling to raise awareness of CLAN cancer support and help reach their overall fundraising target of £40,000 for the charity.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Allan Thomas said: “I thought a lot about what the charity Aberdeen’s CLAN has meant to me and to my sister and also about the things cancer sufferers go through.  Our goal is to let people know about the CLAN charity and what a great help it was to us.  Everyone needs help sometimes”.

During this incredible challenge the team will cover 977 miles over 12 days cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats.  Their target for this event is to raise £10,000 to donate to CLAN so that they can use the money to help cancer sufferers, their friends and families.

CLAN cancer support is an Aberdeen based charity which offers help to anyone affected by cancer, either personally or as a carer or relative, to help them cope with the physical and emotional distress.  CLAN provides free support, counselling, information, complementary therapies, group meetings, activities, transport, home/hospital visiting, a holiday home and affordable B&B accommodation.

Team Pie needs as much support as possible and every donation will be greatly received, for more information or to donate, Click here to visit their website.

We wish them every luck in their challenge!
