MINI Countryman

The new MINI Countryman is the 4x4 that everyone is talking about. With four doors, and an optional four-wheel drive system, the new MINI Countryman will take the MINI brand into previously unexplored territory. Whilst the new model conveys a chunky off-road design not seen before on a MINI, the Countryman still retains some of the elements customers have become accustomed to with the brand’s smaller models, including the high-window line, large headlamps and upright rear lights. And of course, the go-kart style handling that has characterised MINI cars over the years, has been maintained.

Customers will be pleased to hear that the familiar MINI naming scheme has been carried over to the Countryman models. The entry-level model, the MINI One Countryman will come equipped with an 89bhp engine, whilst the range-topping MINI Cooper S Countryman will be powered by an 181bhp turbocharged 1.6 engine. Six-speed manual gearboxes will be included as standard, with petrol models also available with an ultra-efficient six-speed automatic gearbox complete with steering wheel mounted paddles. Fuel-efficiency will be a priority with the new MINI Countryman, with fuel-saving additions including brake energy recuperation, stop/start system and a gear change indicator.

Inside the cabin of the new MINI Countryman, there will be room for four adults, and a centre-rail running the length of the cabin will give more space and comfort for rear passengers. An optional three-seat arrangement in the back will be available at no extra cost. Boot space can be increased from 350 litres to a generous 1150 litres, depending on how the rear seats are arranged. Driver and passengers will enjoy air-conditioning and built-in CD player as standard, while optional extras will include a panoramic roof, adaptive headlights and high-end audio and navigation systems. For an extra sporty look, alloy wheels ranging from 16 to 19 inches can be fitted, as well as lowered sports suspension.

The Countryman will go on sale in September 2010, with prices to be confirmed. To register your interest and to be the first to test drive the new MINI Countryman, please contact John Clark MINI.
