Motability represents a fantastic opportunity for those looking to increase their personal independence and transportation in a cost-effective manner. No matter what your requirements may be, the Motability experts at John Clark dealerships across Scotland are ready to help you achieve your mobility goals.
In order to be eligible for the scheme, you must meet certain criteria relating to the government's Mobility Allowance. Specifically, you must currently be in receipt of one of the following, with at least 12 months' award length left:
• The Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (HMRC DLA);
• The Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of the Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP);
• The War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS); or
• The Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP).
Please be aware that the Attendance Allowance does not qualify for the scheme, and only the higher/enhanced rate of the Mobility Allowance can be used.
If you wish to nominate up to two drivers on your behalf, this is not a problem, although only one driver under the age of 21 can be nominated. If you are the parent or guardian of a child aged three or over who is in receipt of the HMRC DLA, you will be able to order a vehicle on their behalf.
Restrictions include those on drivers under 25, who are limited to vehicles with a power rating of less than 115bhp and which are in the lower ABI insurance groups. Please also bear in mind that if you have a driving-related conviction, disqualification or endorsement, you may not be eligible for the scheme.
