Used Škoda Citigo For Sale

The Škoda Citigo is a neat city car that has been with us since it was launched in 2012 alongside its sister cars, the Volkswagen up! and the Seat Mii. Focused on high quality and good value motoring, the Citigo is made for nipping around towns and cities, exploiting those gaps that the big gas guzzlers can't access. The Citigo forms the entry model to the increasingly dynamic and progressive Škoda range, but by no means is it "entry level" in terms of quality.

Why should I buy one?

The Škoda Citigo has proved that it can move with the times, having recently seen a fully electrified Citigo-e join the range. The city car sector is stacked with choice and competition is fierce, but the Citigo holds its own through its blend of reliability and good build quality, with a bit of personality too.

Its wheels are pushed to the far corners making it surprisingly roomy inside, with the ability to seat four adults in reasonable comfort. The Citigo has access to the VW group's impressive portfolio of parts, and feels like a quality product as a result. Ergonomics are second to none, with everything in reach and most of it feeling pleasant to use.

The Citigo is focused on economical motoring, and only offers a choice between two 1-litre, normally-aspirated engines. They're obviously not the quickest, but they are peppy and full of character, making the Citigo surprisingly enjoyable to drive. It is supple to drive and avoids crashing over every pothole, giving you and your passengers a comfortable journey.

A brace of safety equipment including four airbags and ABS helped gain the Citigo a full five stars in its Euro NCAP crash test, meaning its safety standard belies its diminutive size.

What engines and trims are available?

The Citigo is available with two 1-litre engines offering either 6bhp or 75bhp. The lower version offers up to 67mpg, and the more powerful one returns up to 65mpg.

There are a number of special editions including the Colour Edition and Black Edition which offer unique trims, but the main models are Škoda's usual S, SE and SE L trim levels. Standard equipment includes airbags, ABS and power steering, but you need to look further up the range for niceties such as air conditioning or alloy wheels.

What should I look for?

The Citigo is a solid and reliable car. Make sure it has been serviced on time and to the right standards, and look out for cars with bumps, scuffs and dings that might hint at heavy city use. Otherwise, your Citigo should prove to be a great companion.
