The Volkswagen Up which is India bound is a small hatchback designed to seat four people in comfort. However, there were sixteen people who decided to think differently about the internal dimensions of the small hatchback.

Volkswagen’s mini hatchback, the Up is soon going to be the smallest Volkswagen model. The car is designed to be the perfect urban runabout while carrying four people in comfort. While the car is small it with its compact dimensions of 3.54 meters in length and 1.64 meters in breath it does seem to be spacious with is tall headroom. So how many people do you reckon can get into the new VW Up? Five? Six? Wrong, sixteen is the answer. Fifteen women and one man who do not understand the meaning of the word ‘claustrophobic’.

And do not think that means there were human limbs sticking out of the car at the end of it. All doors and windows of the Up were closed shut with a total of sixteen people in it. The sixteen occupants however did admit that the final result was not all that comfortable.

Here is how the count went, two people in the boot, one on the dashboard, seven on the rear seat, four on the front seats, and two in the footwells.

The current record for the maximum number of people in a car according to the Guinness World Records is twenty people.
