The MINI Dogs Trust Partnership

MINI are on a mission to help the nation’s dogs travel happier and they have teamed up with Dogs Trust, the incredible dog welfare charity, to reach their goals. They have collated their expert advice on travelling with dogs as they know the importance of their cars being able to keep them safe as well as you. As a result, the MINI Clubman has been named Dog Friendly Car of the Year at the annual News UK Motor Awards for the second year running!

MINI have been working to support their drivers and their dogs by developing a questionnaire for their drivers with Dogs Trust to understand “what makes dogs’ bums wiggle when it comes to cars”. Dogs Trust defined happy dogs as ones who are eager and willing to get in the car, settle down easily once inside, and have enough space to comfortably stand, sit, and lie down.

MINI then analysed 1000 of the responses that they received from their drivers to discover that more than 91% saying that their dog was happy in a MINI and over half saying that their dog had all three happy travelling behaviours!

From there the MINI Clubman came out on top as the favourite model amongst those surveyed with a feel-good figure of 95%! Elsewhere miniature dog owners were more likely to take their bed or carrier from home for their furry friend, but they loved the high-quality interiors of their MINI models. Large and extra-large dog owners said that they chose their MINI model as it was big enough for their dog and they could use either the back seat or the boot (their favourite feature overall) to make their dog comfortable.

John Clark MINI Aberdeen and John Clark MINI Tayside will be supporting MINI’s efforts this year and are aiming to raise £500, watch this space for more information!
