Chloe Grant will compete in her 2023 racing season at the newly launched F1 Academy for ART Grand Prix. John Clark Motor Group has sponsored 17 year old Chloe in her previous seasons and is excited and proud to continue to support her journey with the F1 Academy.
On the announcement, Chloe said “I am really excited to contest this season with ART Grand Prix. We share the same ambition for winning and with the history and victory that ART Grand Prix carries, I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together. It's a privilege to join their long list of successful and talented drivers. The F1 Academy presents an opportunity to us female drivers that we haven't seen before, and I know we have a competitive inaugural grid. I can't wait to get started!”
ART Team Principle Sébastien Philippe added: “ART Grand Prix is happy to accompany Chloe in her first year of international competition. Last season, she showed a glimpse of her talent and determination, which had already enabled her to have a great career in karting. This development corresponds perfectly to the philosophy of our Company, which is proud to participate in this new sporting and individual journey.”
The F1 Academy is a new project from Formula 1 to develop and prepare female drivers to progress to higher levels of competition. This includes giving the drivers more access to track time, racing, and testing, as well as support with the technical, physical, and mental preparations required for the season.
The inaugural season will see five teams and a total of fifteen drivers take part in twenty one races across seven rounds. This will feature as many Formula 1 Grand Prix tracks as possible with all teams featuring drivers with impressive driving careers as they are prepared and nurtured to take their next steps in competitive motorsport.
Chloe began karting in 2013 at just 7 years old, despite having to way until the following year to begin competing with the East of Scotland Kart Club (ESKC) in Crail.In her first year she was awarded their Newcomer Award for the season and continued to perform well with finishes of 3rd and 2nd in the two following years.
In 2017 she moved up to the Minimax class and won the ESKC Minimax non-MSA Championship and was the Most Improved Minimax Driver of the Year. After another successful year in 2019, Chloe was given the opportunity to become the youngest driver to gain a Motorsport UK Junior Racing Licence in Scotland. At 13 she passed all the ARDS testing and gained her licence.
In 2021 she entered the Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSC) Scholarship and won which awarded her a full season in the JSCC. In her first year of car racing she placed first, a huge achievement! Last year she competed in the GB4 Championship and placed 9th overall.
