Dacia celebrated the end of 2023 with numerous award wins across their range.

Firstly the Dacia Spring was named as Top Gear’s “Bargain of the Year” and was singled out for its usability, fund drive, and cost of ownership. Dacia have confirmed that the all-electric Spring will arrive in the UK this year as an all new version of the model with significant improvements in design and equipment.

It beat out competition from all other makes and models, regardless of their powertrain, to win the award and is already Europe’s most affordable new electric car. It will make electric mobility accessible to thousands of drivers who may currently feel that a brand new electric car may not be an affordable option.

Jack Rix, editor of Top Gear Magazine said “The Spring is a perfect fit for electric power, despite its shortish range - even going non-stop for 12 hours in a congested city won’t flatten its battery. It bowls cheerfully along, its ride is actually quite supple and controlled, its narrowness turns lanes and alleys into superhighways.”

Following this, the Dacia Duster was then named “Best Small Car/SUV” at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards following a bold new visual identity introduced in 2022. It continues to impress journalists and reviewers with its enhanced specification and attractive pricing.

Alisdair Suttie, Association of Scottish Motoring Writers President said: "The Dacia Duster is a previous winner at Scottish Car of the Year and this new 2023 model builds on everything that made that car a hit with our panel. The latest version brings a real step up in design and quality for this compact yet practical family vehicle while still offering the unrivalled value for money that has made it such a success for Dacia. Despite some fierce competition, it is a worthy winner of the title of Scottish Small Car / SUV of the Year."

Next, at the Carwow Car of the Year Awards, the Dacia Jogger was given the “Smart Spender Award” and was highly commended in the “Family Values” category. Elsewhere the Sandero Stepway was also highly commended in the “Adventurer’s Choice” award.

Judges praised the seven seat Jogger for the way that it complements value with space and distinctive style whilst also reflecting on its suitability for households that want an affordable car that is also robust, versatile, and perfect for fun-filled journeys.

Mat Watson, Chief Content Officer at Carwow, said: “Dacia is always near the top of the list for anyone buying on a budget, but that doesn’t mean they’re not great cars. The Jogger is as cost-effective as it gets in terms of a new car that can carry seven people, but it’s also comfortable and massively practical. Plus, it looks good in an old-school estate car sort of way, so it stands out from the crowd of samey SUVs.”

Finally, rounding out the year, the Dacia Manifesto concept was voted “Concept Car Design of the Year” by top automotive designers in the 10th annual Car Design Review. Car Design News compiles the awards each year and is the leading source of information, advice, and insight for car designers worldwide.

The Manifesto concept was unveiled in 2022 and reaffirms the values that Dacia stands for. Whilst it is a concept car, Dacia have said that it is a living lab for ideas with some of its pioneering features which are already seen within their production cars.

On Dacia’s win, James McLachlan, Editor of Car Design News, said: “In the ten years of these awards, Dacia has never previously been a contender for any car category, so to win this year’s Concept Car Design of the Year award is an incredible achievement and shows just how far its design department has come.”

A very successful end to 2023 for Dacia with an exciting year now coming with new launches of the Dacia Spring and the All-New Duster. For more information about any of the models please contact Specialist Cars Dacia in Aberdeen today.
