Earlier this year the very first phase of our solar panel installation took place at our BMW and Audi sites in Aberdeen and Tayside, Dundee and we are proud to be able to share the photos with you.

Installed across the summer, this was an investment of nearly £1m after a long planning and development process that started at the end of 2022. As a result we have seen a reduction in power that we take from the grid at these sites between 20% and 40% at any given time, meaning that this much of our energy at these sites is coming directly from our own renewable source.

We have already committed to invest a further £5m into this project over the next two years to expand our installation to up to 15 other sites across the John Clark Motor Group and can’t wait to update you once these are underway!

As well as our solar panel installation, we were able to report in March that our Group carbon footprint reduced by 5.74% from 4,968.72 tCO2e in 2021 to 4,683.63 tCO2e (tonnes (t) of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent (e)) in 2022. A move to green tariffs for our gas and electricity supply, switching to LED lighting across all properties, and investment in our carbon offset projects in South America and Africa are the main contributors in this reduction.
