The New Škoda Scala was initially unveiled in December 2018 and was designed to fall into the line-up between the Škoda Fabia and larger Škoda Octavia, competing with other cars in the C-segment hatchback segment such as the VW Golf, Ford Focus, Vauxhall Astra, and the SEAT Leon.
It offers copious amounts of space as a family car alongside updated equipment and features. The Scala’s do-it-all attitude is backed by truly unique design. Inside, it continues to tick every box – with its host of comfort, connectivity, and safety features.

The updated Škoda Scala exterior features multiple features redesigned for 2024 and has drawn on the model's distinctive features and further refined them. At the front of the car you'll find a newly updated grille which has alternating matte and glossy services alongside a redesigned front bumper with a central air intake divided by side wings in the body colour.
At the rear of the car there's the option for an extended rear window which allows the glass to extend all the way down to the tail lights with a contoured loading sill below it. The redesigned rear apron includes a diffuser which is framed by two wing elements in the body colour to mirror the front design.
There are also LED front fog lights, with a rear LED fog light integrated into the bumper, alongside full matrix LED headlights and redesigned TOP LED tail lights for full visibility at all times and in all conditions.
The new Scala range includes three different trim levels: SE, SE L, and Monte Carlo, with different equipment and features available on all. Each trim also has a Design Selection which correlates to some of the finishes you'll find throughout the cabin.
On top trim Monte Carlo models, for example, they have a specific Monte Carlo Design Selection which uses "Carbon" artificial leather decorative inserts whilst entry level SE models use the Loft Design Selection which uses grey fabric decorative inserts.
Inside the Scala's cabin are now two displays, an 8 inch digital display for the driver behind the steering wheel and an 8.25 inch infotainment systems display in the centre console, easily accessible for those in the front seats. These give you access to Wireless Smartlink for Apple Carplay and Android Auto, built in sat nav, and digital radio.
Take advantage of 467 litres of cargo space with all five seats in use and open the boot space up further to 1410 litres with the rear seats folded down. For even more space you can opt to add on the adjustable boot floor for additional storage space.
There are three engine choices available across the new Scala range with varying power outputs and gearbox options to suit your needs.
This includes two 1.0 litre petrol engines with outputs of 95PS and 116PS, respectively, and a choice of either a five speed manual gearbox, six speed manual gearbox, or seven speed automatic DSG gearbox. There is also a more powerful 1.5 litre engine capable of 150PS, again available with either a manual or automatic DSG gearbox, allowing you to choose the set up that you prefer to drive.
Whilst the new Scala is yet to be tested independently by Euro NCAP, the previous model received a top 5 star safety rating and the new model features a wealth of driver assistance and safety systems. This includes cruise control, automatic headlight control, hill hold control, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, and an auto-dimming rear view mirror.
