EXPECT NOTHING LESS.

Living up to expectation can be a difficult task to accomplish. Not for the new BMW 5 Series though.

Upon its release, it has attracted five star reviews and was crowned WhatCar? Car of the Year 2017. I suppose we should expect nothing less.

Blessed with a range of technological updates, the new BMW 5 Series has cemented its place as one of the most sophisticated and innovative luxury saloons on the road today. We explored what drivers can look forward to.

GESTURE CONTROL.

Unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, Gesture Control in the BMW 5 Series Touring allows manipulation of the BMW iDrive System with a simple wave of your hand or the pinch of a finger. Answer or reject calls, zoom into maps, adjust the audio and more, all with intuitive hand movements.

SEMI-AUTONOMOUS DRIVING.

Start stop traffic? Let the new BMW 5 Series take over. A range of sensors, including a stereo camera, ultra-sound and radar monitor the area around the vehicle, allowing the extended functions of the Active Cruise Control and the steering and lane control assistant to drive the vehicle. Together they will keep a safe distance between you and other road users.

PARKING AS IF BY MAGIC.

The Remote Control Parking function allows the driver to conveniently get out of the vehicle before parking it, via remote control, by moving it forward into, or reversing out of a tight parking space or garage. This function is activated by the driver once outside the car, with the BMW Display Key.

HEAD-UP DISPLAY.

The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display projects information relevant to the journey directly into the driver's field of vision, allowing them to fully concentrate on driving. Speed data is displayed, along with navigation tips, speed limit information and driver assistance warnings.

WIRELESS CHARGING AND BLUETOOTH.

Enhanced Bluetooth with wireless charging includes a charging dock and additional USB ports. Two mobile phones and an audio player can be connected simultaneously via Bluetooth. In addition, a WiFi hotspot allows for a paid internet connection via the built-in SIM card with a fee-based hotspot plan from a service provider.
