BMW has celebrated the beginning of 2024 with a string of victories across its model range after a successful run across 2023.

The BMW 2 Series Coupe took home the prize for Category C: Compact Class at the Best Cars 2024 Awards from German magazine Auto, Motor und Sport, where this year 92,000 voters took part in deciding the winners across 13 categories. Elsewhere, the BMW X1 was the winner in Category L: Compact SUV/off-road vehicle.

The new BMW 5 Series won the class victory in the “Large Car” category of the “Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year” Awards where 75 female automotive journalists from 52 countries come together and pick out their favourite cars from a choice of 62 vehicles across five categories.

This year’s awards were the 14th edition, and the BMW 5 Series won the panel over with its electrified drive system line-up as well as its spaciousness, advanced technology, and fully vegan interior.

These awards brought a very successful start to 2024 after 2023 saw the brand take home numerous prizes internationally as well as at home in Germany. The winners came from all relevant categories including compact models, luxury vehicles, and high-performance sports cars from BMW M GmbH, as well as traditional internal combustion engines and newer electrified options.

“We’re very proud that our various BMW vehicles have won awards in so many national and international competitions. This also shows that we have attractive models in all segments that excite people,” says Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Customer, Brands, Sales. “The response to our models with all-electric drive systems is particularly pleasing. This ties in with the strong demand from customers and supports the BMW Group’s commitment to ramping up electric mobility in all areas.”
