The weekend started strong for Jonny Adam as he set the fastest times across Thursday’s three test session before the opening race of the season of the British GT Championship.
His time of 1m25.288s was set in the Blackthorn Aston Martin Vantage, which dons the number 7, and beat out equally impressive lap time from the drivers of Barwell and Orange byJMH.
Returning to the track on Saturday, the team finished fourth in pre-qualifying with a time of 1m25.571, just 0.198s behind the leaders, Team Abba Racing. A combined qualifying time of 2m50.837s placed the Blackthorn car in 5th position to start the race on Sunday.
After 75 laps on race day, Jonny and teammate Giacomo Petrobelli finished in 11th place, which wasn’t where the team had hoped to be after such a positive start to the weekend.
On his Instagram account Jonny said “Not the result we came for, or how we wanted to start our championship challenge, but these things happen. Lots of positives from the whole weekend, and the race itself. We will build on what we achieved this weekend – which was a lot – and will bounce back at Silverstone in a couple of weeks.”
