Over 55 million people worldwide currently live with dementia and unless something Is done to help prevent or to cure the disease, one in three people born today will die with dementia.
Race Against Dementia was established by Sir Jackie Stewart OBE following his wife Helen’s diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia. Sir Jackie was horrified to discover that there is currently no cure for dementia, a disease which devastates the lives of so many families.
RAD supports early career researchers in many aspects of dementia research and there are currently RAD Fellows and Associates based in the UK, Australia, USA, Europe, and South Africa. Their vision is a breakthrough in the prevention or treatment of dementia with the greatest of urgency.
