John Clark Motor Group is proud to be a sponsor of the Bo’Ness Speed Hill Climb, taking place at Kinneil Estate on 2nd and 3rd September 2023.
The weekend event follows a long tradition of hill climbs taking place at the estate, dating all the way back to 1932 when the West Lothian Motor Cycle Club first held an event there. These were much more informal events, but they proved incredibly popular, and the club joined up with the Scottish Sporting Car Club in 1934 to hold the first official Bo’ness Hill Climb in June of the same year.
The hill climb track was continuously worked on and developed in the years that followed and by the time the Second World War broke out there were several events a year at Bo’ness which attracted the best drivers from across the UK. Post-war saw further developments, including the extension of the length of the track, and was granted the first round of the inaugural British Hill Climb Championship in May 1947 which was a huge honour.
Currently the event is run by Bo’ness Sporting Automobile Club, which was formed in 2022, and they aim to host motorsport events at the hill track in Kinneil Estate whilst preserving the heritage and tradition of Scotland’s oldest permanent motorsport venue.
You can now register to take part with your car at Bo’ness Speed Hill Climb in September, with details found at the club’s website below. Spectators are welcome across the weekend with the gates opening at 9:30am on each day.
