Mikayla competes in UCI World Cup races all over the globe, showcasing her skills and determination on some of the toughest terrains in the world. She got her first mountain bike at age 18 and then her first downhill bike at the age of 19 before competing in her first race at Innerleithen in the Scottish Borders just a week later. She won her first race in 2017 at Nevis Range before a string of wins in the Senior Women’s Category and then a leap into the Elite racing circuit. In 2019 she was named the Scottish Downhill Champion, took her first podium finish in the Elite category, competed in her first overseas competition, and competed in her first UCI Mountain Bike World Cup races.
