BMW Motorrad Roadster Bikes

There is seemingly no end to the talents of BMW Motorrad. Renowned for its solid adventure and touring motorcycles, in more recent years BMW has added another string to its bow in the form of its Roadster range.

This group of four motorbikes has something to offer anyone who is looking for an upright street style bike, from a rider starting out on their A2 licence to a buyer looking for the ultimate performance bike. These bikes are designed to be nippy, agile and fun on the road, with plenty of performance available to suit your mood.

What Models are Available?

If you're looking for a bike to ride on an A2 licence, look no further than the G 310 R, which offers all the BMW Roadster looks, but with a manageable single-cylinder 313cc engine delivering 34bhp. The cylinder head has been rotated to push the centre of gravity towards the front wheel, making it more agile and more reassuring to ride. Its minimalist design makes it reminiscent of its bigger S 1000 R sibling. Standard equipment includes a six-speed gearbox, ABS, stainless steel exhaust, an electric throttle and all-round LED lights.

The next step up the range is the F 900 R, featuring an 895cc, two-cylinder engine providing 105bhp. Its torquey twin engine offers plenty of low down power to make it just as enjoyable nipping round town as on the open road. You sit low and upright, maximising the feeling of involvement on the road and making you part of the bike. You can choose between six different seat heights to help make the F 900 R fit you perfectly. Standard equipment includes a colour TFT display, LED headlight, ASC and road/rain riding modes. The F 900 R can also be detuned to allow riders with an A2 licence to ride it.

For the ultimate in performance and thrills, the S 1000 R is the roadster version of BMW's S 1000 RR Supersport bike. Offering an impressive 165bhp from its 1000cc four-cylinder engine, the S 1000 R offers power in spades along with finely tuned handling to give you an involving riding experience. The R is available in two variants, a standard model offering ABS, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), an LED headlight, three riding modes, a TFT screen with connectivity and an alarm. The Sport model adds extras including an adaptive headlight, gearshift assist, cruise control, heated grips, Dynamic Damping Control and a number of styling tweaks. It is definitely worth spending the extra for the Sport if you can afford it.

The flagship of the BMW Motorrad Roadster range is the R 1250 R, which blends sporty and cruising influences to make for an all-round powerful and flexible motorcycle. Delivering 136bhp from its 1254cc boxer engine, the R 1250 R is deliberately a little more easy-going than the S 1000 R. It offers plenty of low down torque that only a twin-engine delivers, to give you the flexibility to ride in whatever style you like. Standard equipment includes a TFT screen with connectivity, hill start assist, two switchable riding modes and Automatic Stability Control (ASC).
