BMW's new M6 is a sensational high-performance machine that promises to impress. Its elegant folding roof is one of the many luxury details, which add up to a hugely rewarding time at the wheel or in the passenger seat.
One look into the premium interior leaves you in no doubt as to the car's potential. The iconic 'M' badge adorns the three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, scuff plates, gear lever, and instrument panel, and further striking design cues include carbon fibre inlays plus contrast-coloured stitching. The Merino-leather M seats have been redeveloped for even greater levels of comfort and support, and they now grip more assuredly as you sweep through bends. These seats form part of an ergonomic environment that better connects you with the car, and its controls are easy to access so you experience little distraction. There's plenty to help you stay connected, with standard features including the iDrive Touch Controller, 8.8-inch display and BMW Professional sat nav.
The new M6 is similar in looks to the 6 Series, but is distinguishable by numerous features, including quad exhausts, wider air intakes and stunningly contoured headlights. The M6 also sports the new M kidney grill, which bears an 'M6' badge, and optional powerful M 20-inch light-alloy wheels. The low-slung front apron uses aerodynamics to optimise driving stability of the high-performance engine. The BMW M6 has an extremely muscular, sturdy presence, enhanced by its flared wheel housings and contoured curves.
The BMW M6 is unarguably, devastatingly fast. On paper, the 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine develops 552bhp, but in reality it feels even faster. The convertible manages 0-60mph in approximately 3.9 seconds, and an astonishing 0-100mph in a blistering 4.8 seconds, which means plenty of power for overtaking at any speed. The BMW M6 is also more than happy to continue accelerating well past 100mph. A selection of driving modes, adjustable through the car's onboard computer, allows the driver to alter the suspension, steering and gearbox settings. The softer settings make the M6 a capable long-distance cruiser; at the other end of the scale, road-handling becomes high-priority.
