John Clark Motor Group is proudly sponsoring Rob Wainwright and his 300-strong team of cyclists as he tackles this year’s epic cycling journey from Dublin to Edinburgh, along a route of approximately 800 miles, on Saturday. Their aim is to arrive and deliver the match ball before Scotland’s Six Nations match against Ireland game kicks off at 3pm on Saturday.
The final event in the Doddie Aid calendar, it is also the sixth year in a row that Rob has taken on such a large endurance challenge. Previously he has cycled from Murrayfield to Cardiff in 2022 and from Oban to Rome in 2024. These ambitious events have helped to raise over £2.5 million for the charity and this year is already sitting at over £400,000 in donations. All money goes directly to the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation to help find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease.
The group will stop at 25 different locations along the route, schools and rugby clubs that will welcome them for a well-deserved break and cheer. This year he will be joined by the former British and Irish Lions centre Gordon D’Arcy, Scottish rugby legend Scott Hastings, Deacon Blue drummer Dougie Vipond, and John Clark Motor Group ambassador and record-breaking cyclist Mark Beaumont.
John Clark Motor Group has supported the event since 2022; teams of riders have taken part, and we have sponsored the event and are incredibly proud of the work that Rob, Marc, and all the other riders have done for MND. This year we are continuing to sponsor the event, look closely to see if you can spot our logo on the shirts!
We wish them all the best of luck and will be watching for the match ball’s arrival on Saturday!
