John Clark OBE is Group Chairman of John Clark Motor Group which he founded back in 1976. John has a lifelong association with cars, his early motor trade experience was with manufacturers, dealers, distributors, and motorsport companies. His first dealership was Lothian Sports Cars in Edinburgh selling Lotus, Scimitar and Aston Martin vehicles. John’s early business results were achieved alongside a successful motorsports career as a BMW 323 driver. In later years he also raced successfully in the British Touring Car Championships as well as winning countless trophies in Historic Racing Championships.

Today, John oversees an ever expanding group including Audi, BMW, BMW Motorcycles, Jaguar, Land Rover, MINI, SEAT, ŠKODA, Volkswagen, Volvo, Volkswagen Commercials, Nissan, Renault, and Dacia across 37 sites which all form part of the John Clark Motor Group portfolio spread across the East of Scotland from Edinburgh through to Elgin in the north. John continues to be very involved, working hands-on, to deliver great service for all customers and providing advice to ensure the continued growth and success of the group. John was honoured in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours, being awarded an OBE.



Chris' passion for the motor industry started from an early age with an interest driven from a childhood surrounded by vehicles as a result of John Clark's longstanding involvement in the motor industry and Scottish motor racing community. Chris’ background inspired his application for a university placement at BMW.

Chris’ placement within BMW’s aftersales marketing team led to his ongoing employment with the brand where he worked for 10 years in a number of key management positions within sales, marketing, and customer service functions. Success in these roles led to Chris being employment as product manager for BMW’s 1 series and 7 series where he successfully oversaw high-profile product launches.

Chris made the move from car manufacturer to car retailer in 2007 joining the John Clark Motor Group as Business Development Director, later moving to Group Managing Director. His previous experience allowed him to build close links with manufacturers helping grow the group’s portfolio from 8 to 13 brands and staff from 600 to 1,300. His responsibilities included: Implementation of the group’s growth strategy, management of all site developments and refurbishments, ownership of financial targets and responsibility for Sales, Human Resources, Training and Aftersales functions.



Alan is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Before joining the motor trade in 1991, he trained with and rose through the ranks to become a manager with a leading accountancy and audit firm.

His thirty years of motor trade experience covers a variety of accounting positions with two other dealer groups plus field management roles with two manufacturer franchises and then John Clark Motor Group.

Having initially joined us in 2006 as Group Finance Manager, Alan was promoted to become our Group Finance Director in 2013 as well as then group wide Company Secretary in 2016. His key duties include central treasury management of cash flow and vehicle funding facilities plus dealership performance reviews as well as property management and legal support services.



As Divisional Managing Director, Jonathan is ultimately responsible for eight franchises across the group. These franchises are Land Rover, Jaguar John Clark Select, Volvo, Renault, Dacia, Nissan and Alpine.

A veteran of over 20 years in the motor industry working with brands such as BMW and starting his career journey as a sales executive. Jonathan continually progresses and drives our businesses, ensuring our colleagues are not only at the top of their game, and provide the highest level of customer service.

Since his arrival some 8 years ago, Jonathan has overseen the launch of a number of new sites in Elgin, Dundee, Edinburgh East and Edinburgh West.


Al is responsible for our BMW, MINI, BMW Motorrad, SEAT, Skoda, CUPRA, Audi, Volkswagen and VW Commercials franchises. He is a motor industry veteran with a career spanning over 18 years starting his journey as a sales executive.

Al joined the John Clark Motor Group as Head of Business for Pentland Land Rover Newbridge, Edinburgh. In 2019, Al was appointed Franchise Director for the BMW, MINI and Motorrad Division. In 2020 the SEAT, Skoda and CUPRA businesses were added to his remit, with the MG brand also coming under Al's leadership in 2023.

Al has nurtured and developed an outstanding relationship with his management team and staff alike. His experience, leadership and tenacity help deliver an outstanding customer experience for the brands he is responsible for.

Louise is a Chartered Fellow with CIPD and has worked in HR for over 20 years. She has worked supporting and delivering HR based in locations in Scotland, London, and Atlanta supporting wider teams on a global scale.

Louise has been an HR leader across a diverse range of businesses before joining John Clark in March 2022. She has worked across engineering and manufacturing, financial services, and retail industries. She brings this experience and insight not just in HR but with a broad range of other corporate functions. She is always driving to ensure that the experience our employees receive is the same as our customers to reinforce our culture.

Louise lives in Dundee, where she worked for our John Clark BMW dealership 25 years ago. This location means she is out and about in all our locations understanding our colleagues; to improve and support the growth and development of our team.


Niral has been in the motor industry for over 25 years and started his career as a graduate trainee accountant. He then moved on to a number of sales related roles before focusing his career in the Financial Services sector of our industry.

Niral went on to become a Director for Finance and Insurance at several well established dealer groups before joining John Clark in December 2021. He brings a wealth of experience not just in the traditional areas of Financial Services but also the digital and e-commerce area in this sector. Niral is committed to delivering value driven products to compliment a vehicle purchase as well as introducing new opportunities for John Clark customers to benefit from.

Although he lives in London, Niral is a regular at sites and enjoys working with the teams in supporting them to deliver a great customer experience in assisting their finance and insurance requirements.

Craig joined John Clark Motor Group in October 2013 before becoming Sales Manager in January 2014. He has spent the last ten years with the Volkswagen Division committed to providing our customers with the best experience in both sales and aftersales.

He was then asked to take on the Head of Business role in June 2017 covering Specialist Cars Volkswagen Kirkcaldy and Specialist Cars Dunfermline. In 2021 Specialist Cars Volkswagen Kirkcaldy was named as one of the top Volkswagen retailers for used cars, an incredible achievement amongst the network.

As Franchise Director for Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Commercial Vehicles Craig oversees all our new and used Volkswagen sites and our Clark Commercials site in Aberdeen, continuing to make sure that we provide an award-winning experience to every customer and passes on his wealth of knowledge to his teams.


Scott first joined the motor trade in 1989 and joined John Clark Motor Group in 2000, two years to the day before his daughter was born!

He first joined Aberdeen Audi as a Sales Manager before moving into the Head of Business role and has now taken on the role of Franchise Director, covering our two sites in Aberdeen and Dundee.

During his time with Audi, he has consistently helped to deliver the most new and used retail customer cars in the UK alongside outstanding customer service. His achievements include winning Dealer of the Year 3 times, Sales Team of the Year 5 times, and the Audi Q Power Sales Performance Award in 2021.

Scott has developed lasting and meaningful relationships with colleagues and customers alike, making him a familiar and friendly face at both Audi dealerships, and continues to maintain the excellent reputation and performance of Aberdeen and Dundee Audi.

With over 15 years of industry experience, Gerry has extensive knowledge of the motor trade. He has personally worked his way up through the ranks, starting as a sales executive and ensures all members of his team have the same opportunities to learn and grow.

Gerry joined the John Clark Motor Group as Head of Business for the Renault and Dacia franchise in 2018 and soon established himself within the company, adding Nissan to his remit within a year. In 2022, Gerry acquired the exciting motorsport brand – Alpine. This franchise has gained a lot of attention from racing enthusiasts, there is only one place to test drive and experience the state of the art A110 range.

Today Gerry proudly holds the title of Franchise Director for Renault, Dacia, Nissan and Alpine. He strives for excellence in every area of his business whether that be in sales, service or parts and ensures his team delivers the highest level of customer satisfaction.


Bryan has a wealth of motor industry experience and has worked in the motor trade for over 22 years representing brands such as BMW, Volkswagen, and now Volvo.

He joined John Clark Motor Group in 2018 and saw the acquisition of our very first Volvo site in Edinburgh and the growth to include Volvo sites in Dundee and Aberdeen. He has successfully overseen Volvo’s transition to the agency model for new car sales and made sure that his teams continue to thrive.

His hard work and commitment to seeing Volvo flourish was rewarded when Volvo Edinburgh was awarded Dealer of the Year for Volvo Edinburgh in 2020 at the John Clark Motor Group Awards and again in 2023 when Volvo Dundee won Volvo Dealer of the Year

Mike Hermiston


Mike is ultimately responsible for our BMW, MINI & BMW Motorrad dealerships located in Aberdeen and Dundee. Mike is a motor industry expert with over 15 years’ experience in the motor trade. Mike joined the John Clark Motor Group in 2012 and joined the BMW, MINI & BMW Motorrad division in 2019.

Mike progressed to General Sales Manager and Head of Business before taking on the role as Franchise Director for the BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad brands.

Mike continually progresses John Clark BMW & MINI, ensuring that staff are not only at the top of their game, but also at the forefront of customer service, product development and that they are aware of any new technological developments and brand standards. This approach has consistently resulted in the John Clark Motor Group being recognised within the top 10 BMW & MINI retailers in the UK.



Steven has over 20 years of experience in the motor industry which started in South Africa when he worked as a sales apprentice for Renault South Africa before making the move to BMW. He changed lanes and put down roots in marketing in 2009 and then joined Auto Trader UK in 2013.

He joined John Clark Motor Group from Auto Trader UK in 2014 and then became Head of Digital in 2018. In this role he oversaw the rollout of our eCommerce platform, multiple website and franchises launches, and the running of manufacturer’s campaigns such as Modern Luxury from Land Rover UK.

He is now responsible for the group marketing and communications strategies and will continue to maintain strong relationships with colleagues in all areas of the business as well as our external partners to support the group goals.

Keith has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland since 2004 whilst he was working in the Audit department of one of the largest independent chartered accountant firms in Scotland before moving into a large construction group in the North East of Scotland. There he helped to increase profitability, implement financial process efficiencies, and better cashflow management.

He moved to John Clark Motor Group, his first role within the motor trade, in 2013 as Group Financial Controller where he worked alongside the Group Finance Director to bolster the Finance Team in a wide range of activities.

His role as Group Property & Projects Director sees him ultimately responsible for the extensive property portfolio within the group alongside the coordination and financial management of any projects as we continue to grow and strengthen.
