Concept R 18

BMW R18

BMW has announced a new concept called R 18 and it is nothing like any bike BMW have produced. Unveiled at Villa d’Este the R 18 returns to the brand’s core with a clean and simple machine, yet, functional and modern design and attitude. Mirroring a 1960s boxer engine the new concept combines classic design with the essence of motorcycling.

In true custom style, the BMW R18 will include a boxer engine, cradle frame, exposed universal shaft and drop shaped fuel tank with black paintwork and hand-applied contrast lines. Metzeler tyres with custom-made tread pattern and colour treatment further reference the throwback feel and reminiscent of the classics, whilst the large spoke wheels provide a secure stance and a perfect balance of power. The BMW R18 bike is head turner while providing riders with the most memorising and dynamic driving experience. At the heart of the design lies the newly designed two-cylinder 1800 cc boxer engine. Designed to the last detail it includes; an engine block and transmission are made of glass bead-blasted aluminium, with belt guard and valve aluminium covers. The R 18 concept has truly strong presence, attitude and is truly a thing of beauty.

Experience uncompromising riding with open shaft-drive, cantilever rear suspension, a twin-Solex carburettor and a 1950s inspired LED headlight to name a few. Get in touch with our sales team at John Clark BMW Motorrad for more information.

The breathtaking new design is set to win the hearts of thousands of enthusiasts. What’s more, BMW Motorrad have teased a series production cruiser motorcycle powered by a ‘big boxer’ engine during 2020. To keep up to date with the latest R 18 news at John Clark BMW Motorrad, click here.
