The latest SEAT SUV is the Arona, which has already been met with widespread critical acclaim. The SEAT Arona comes in five trim levels, ranging from SE to XCELLENCE Lux, and the former is very well-equipped indeed.
This all-new SEAT Crossover certainly cuts a dash with its sharp, rather sporty styling – and its compact size makes it ideal for city driving. The vehicle rides on lightweight, stylish 17-inch alloy wheels as standard too. Exterior illumination includes LED daytime running lights, front fog lamps and LED taillights, each providing optimal illumination when needed most.
The Arona is a practical vehicle, thanks, in part, to a five-door body that allows easy access. There’s room inside for five, with generous levels of headroom available in both compartments. Boot space is a not-inconsiderable 400 litres – expanding to 823 litres when 60/40 split-folding rear seats are dropped.
Entry-level SE grades feature a five-inch touchscreen, a six-speaker sound system (including DAB radio) and AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Next-level SE Technology trims substitute an eight-inch touchscreen satellite navigation system, which offers 3D mapping and voice recognition functionality, as well as SEAT’s Full Link smartphone integration.
With a standard-issue 1.0-litre 94bhp petrol engine installed, the Arona manages up to 67.3mpg, and produces CO2 emissions from 111g/km. Not bad at all, but even better is a 1.6-litre 95bhp diesel unit that returns as much as 76.3mpg and produces emissions as low as 105g/km.
A truly good family car must be safe to drive – and it so happens that the Arona has been awarded a maximum five-star crash test rating by Euro NCAP. The vehicle is installed with a wide range of protective features, such as Electronic Stability Control, Hill-hold Assist and multiple airbags. Autonomous Emergency Braking comes as standard too, which has been proven to significantly reduce the risk of low-speed collisions.
