As part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH, the brand has launched its first ever high-performance car with an electrified drive system. The BMW XM takes a V8 petrol engine and pairs it with an exceptionally powerful electric motor. The XM is also the first BMW M original model since the BMW M1 and creates a fresh interpretation of the Sports Activity Vehicle.
The newly developed M HYBRID drive system delivers an overall output of 653hp which is underpinned by a newly developed and classically high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and a cross-bank exhaust manifold and optimised oil separation process.
Sprint from 0-62mph in just 4.3 seconds across three operating modes and always with all wheel drive and enjoy fuel consumption as high as 188.3mpg. You’ll also be able to travel solely on electric power for an estimated 54 miles, making it ideal for errands.
Inside oozes luxury and excellence. The cockpit and front seats are designed around an active driving experience which includes M multifunction seats, knee pads, a model-specific M leather steering wheel, and M-specific graphics including shift lights for the BMW Curved Display and BMW Head-Up Display.
The rear is turned into an exclusive M Lounge: heated backrests extend well into the sides of the rear compartment and specially designed cushions give extra levels of comfort. There is a choice of four interior trims including a new Vintage leather for the upper sections of the instrument panel and door panels. Ambient lighting, dour zone electronic climate control, the Harman Kardon surround sound system, and the Travel and Comfort system are all standard features.
For those looking for something even more special, the BMW XM Label Red is available in a limited run of 500 examples which will feature an exterior paint in BMW Individual Frozen Carbon Black metallic and Toronto red exterior accents. Performance is also enhanced with 748hp whilst keeping emissions low at 39 CO2 g/km thanks to the high-powered electric motor.
