The ŠKODA OCTAVIA is celebrating 60 years on the road (and what a happy 60 years it’s been). Created in a factory in Czechslovakia in 1959, four generations have graced our presence since with the ŠKODA OCTAVIA for sale still going strong today.
The first generation two-door saloon was just £610 to buy and included revolutionary features such as radio and heater. The ŠKODA OCTAVIA's 1959 - 1971 attractive flowing body design and a robust 1.1 litre four-cylinder engine was impressive with easy handling and reasonable comfort.
Fast forward to 1996 when the second-generation OCTAVIA was launched after ŠKODA joined forces with the Volkswagen Group after they bought the company in the early nineties. A new model was created to carry on the legacy of the previous OCTAVIA, with a sleek new exterior and safety at the forefront of the design. Added extra and more design was apparent with a vigorous transformation including 4 doors, 1.9 turbocharged engine and the iconic ŠKODA logo. Driving away with a second-generation ŠKODA OCTAVIA 1996 model would have set you back around £11,500 a bit more expensive than its predecessor 37 years later but well worth it!
The third generation continued the success of its predecessor, after selling more than 1.4 million during its eight-year life. The ŠKODA OCTAVIA 2004 model diversified the range of hatchback, estate and vRS models and added a Scout version to the line-up offering ŠKODA customers more choice. Technical innovations were evident with a CD multi-changer, electric windows and cruise control added to the ŠKODA OCTAVIA enhancing the ride quality and specification. Over 1.6 million saloons and 900,000 estates sold between 2004-2013, making it the most successful ŠKODA OCTAVIA to date.
Fast forward to 2013 where we meet the current ŠKODA OCTAVIA for sale updated fully in 2017.
