ŠKODA are pleased to announce that the new ŠKODA Fabia R5 has been given the green light by the International Automobile Federation (FIA). Following a lengthy and complex approval procedure, this stunning new rally car can continue ŠKODA's 114-year motorsport success story on rally stages around the world.
The comprehensive approval process is made up of numerous parts, involving rigorous quality assurance testing by the FIA and ŠKODA are delighted that the Fabia R5 has met all the required standards.
ŠKODA has had a strong presence in international rally championships since 1998 and the all new ŠKODA Fabia looks set to continue the success story after winning it's debut rally in the Czech Republic earlier in the year. With a wider and more aerodynamic body, flared wheelarches, various air scoops and a centrally mounted exhaust, the R5 looks set to be storming the mud on rally stages in the near future. In keeping with FIA regulations, it will feature a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, a five-speed sequential manual gearbox and MacPherson struts, weighing in at a minimum of 1,230 kilograms.
