The partnership between John Clark and Volkswagen was established in 1986, when John decided to take on the legendary brand under the John Clark (formally Specialist Cars) banner right in the heart of Aberdeen. Not prepared to rest on our laurels, we have continually developed and advanced our Volkswagen offering, starting with the opening of the £1.5m Autoplex centre in 1994.
Our presence in Fife played a key role in strengthening our Volkswagen network across the east of Scotland. In 2001, we opened the £1m John Clark Volkswagen Kirkcaldy dealership, bringing new car sales and Volkswagen expertise closer to customers in the area. Building on this success, we later expanded with our Dunfermline site, which specialised in high-quality used vehicles and offers a manufacturer-approved Volkswagen service centre, ensuring customers benefit from expert aftersales care and convenience closer to home.
In 2026, as part of a wider strategic review by Volkswagen, the brand’s representation in Fife and Tayside transitioned from Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline to new locations in St Andrews and Dundee. John Clark Motor Group welcomed the opening of John Clark Volkswagen St Andrews, continuing to serve customers from its long-established site, while Volkswagen Dundee became part of our multi-franchise Volkswagen Group facility at Broomhill Road. These changes ensure customers benefit from Volkswagen’s latest retail standards, enhanced facilities, and continued access to expert sales and aftersales support across the east of Scotland.
