What Car? held their annual Car of the Year Awards and Volkswagen are delighted that the ID. Buzz has won two awards: Best Large Electric Car and the prestigious Overall Winner Award.
What Car? have said that the ID. Buzz was chosen as overall winner as “there’s so much affection for the Buzz’s retro design that Volkswagen could easily have penny-pinched on the engineering and still sold as many as it could make. But instead, it has clearly thrown everything at the car, with this resulting in something that combines the practicality of an MPV with the comfort and refinement of a premium SUV and the potentially low running costs of an electric vehicle.”
The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is a battery electric minivan unveiled in March 2022 as the first production electric minivan from the brand with European deliveries starting in the latter half of 2022. It’s one of nine new Volkswagen models to be built on the brand’s MEB platform, a modular platform specifically for electric cars built in the VW Group.
The wins at the What Car? Car of the Year Awards follows months of success for the ID. Buzz, including receiving a five star safety rating from Euro NCAP, and Volkswagen’s electric vehicle sales increasing by 23.6% in 2022.
