World Premier of New ID.3

Two and a half years after first coming to market the all-electric ID.3 will be returning with considerable upgrade after already delivering more than 600,000 models to customers. This includes new software, a sharpened exterior, refined interior, and an extended range of colours. The ID.3 is one of ten electric models that Volkswagen will launch by 2026.

The exterior has a new sharpened look with optimised air cooling openings and large painted areas to make the front appear more confident and friendly at every angle. As well as this there is a new bumper, the recessed sections at the sides now extend to the front, and the black strip under the windscreen has now been removed. There is also improved air flow around the front wheels – which VW refer to as the “air curtain” whilst the rear has two-part taillights on the rear lid for the first time.

Inside the Volkswagen ID.3 has also been improved with modern design and sustainable materials. Artvelours Eco microfibre material on the door trims and seat covers is a secondary raw material made from 71% recyclate, obtained by recycling plastic that has previously been disposed of as waste at least once. As well as this, the interior equipment is completely animal-free. VW have also taken customer feedback into consideration and improved the standard equipment package including soft trims across the cockpit for a new haptic experience.

You’ll also find charging even more convenient with functions such as Plug & Charge where the vehicle authenticates itself and starts the charging process when the cable is plugged in at a charging station and the intelligent Electric Vehicle Route Planner which calculates charging stops along the route for you using current traffic information and forecasts alongside the battery charge level.

There’s also a new generation of software which improves system performance and can receive over-the-air updates. The user interface has also had some tweaks based on customer feedback including the menu structure, a clearer overall layout, and the charging menu is now located on the first level of the touch display. You’ll also have optional Travel Assist with swarm data in the new ID.3 which will work alongside adaptive cruise control and lane assist to provide semi-automated driving.

Imelda Labbé, Member of the Board of Management for Sales, Marketing and After Sales at Volkswagensaid: “With the second-generation of the ID.3, we are continuing the success story of our ID. family. The design has matured and the materials in the interior have been significantly upgraded. The new ID.3 demonstrates our clear commitment to quality, design and operability, and we have systematically taken on board the wishes of our customers.”
