Design

The exterior styling is almost identical to the ​conventional compact Volvo SUV born out of Swedish innovation. There are a few small tweaks to the electric car such as the fascia is now sealed in place of the traditional radiator grille required for a combustion engine and both models have the Recharge branding.​

Interior

Technology

Andreas Ropel is the innovation manager at Volvo Cars and he states “I’ve built my own smart house. Everything is connected. The lights, the doors, the heating. I control it all from an app on my phone, or even using Siri.” So, there is no doubt that the EX40 Recharge hybrid and electric car offer the driver and passengers technology at their finger tips with a simple swipe, touch or voice command being all that is required to get things done.

There is a 12.3-inch digital driver display which can be personalised with different looks and colour schemes to suit your mood and the voice control systems enable the driver to manage climate control, navigation, media and telephone features. The technology in the EX40 Hybrid and Electric car is designed to work as a virtual assistant to make the drivers life easier and enable them to focus on the journey ahead.

Performance

The Volvo electric car is impressive with its electric range of 200 miles and an acceleration of 0-62mph in just 4.9 seconds. With two 201bhp electric motors positioned on each axle they combine to offer 408hp and ample torque allowing towing of up to 1,500kg. With the pure electric EX40, you can also have the added peace of mind that you can recharge the battery from 0 to 80% in approximately 40 minutes on an AC or DC Charger.

The hybrid car version of the EX40 ensures the petrol engine and electric motor work in harmony for less tailpipe emissions and instant power. With 28 miles of pure electric range, this compact plug-in hybrid is perfect for the journey to work, school or the office and offers CO2/km emissions of 55-47g.
