Described by Alpine as “the most radical A110”, the new A110 R has been completely redesigned to achieve a more aerodynamic performance. Alpine have also taken even more inspiration from their designs and success in the world of motorsport to optimise the All-New Alpine A110 R.
One of the biggest differences between the A100 R and the
others in the range is its drastic weight reduction to 1082kg – 34kg less that
the A110 S. This is due to a redesign of the front/rear aerodynamic balance
with aerodynamic distribution centred towards the rear of the car to modify the
downforce. Drag has been reduced by 5% on track and 2% on the open road when
compared to the A110 S and there’s an additional 29kg of aerodynamic downforce
as a result of these changes.
The use of carbon fibre in the All-New A110 R is how the drastic weight reduction has been achieved. Wheels developed by the Alpine team with their supplier Duqueine also provide better cooling for the brakes whilst the single shell Sabelt seats are equipped with a 6-point safety harness and weigh 5kg less alone. You’ll also find carbon fibre utilised on the entire bonnet with a sportier look and two air intakes for enhanced aerodynamics and the rear window which now extends over the engine bay and features the third stop light.
Powered by a 4 cylinder, 1.8 turbo engine that’s coupled with 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission means that the All-New A110 R is built for performance. You’ll enjoy a maximum of 300HP at 6300rpm and take advantage of Launch Control, the automatic start function, to reach 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
To compliment this performance, the All New A110 R comes with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 semi-slick tyres fitted as standard and these high performance tyres can be utilised both on closed tracks and the open road. These will give you more stability and cornering control which translates to an improvement of 0.5 seconds per kilometre on the track.
Once you arrive at your destination you’ll be able to look at the real-time performance data thanks to Alpine Telemetrics, a standard feature of the model that provides real-time data on turbo pressure, the gearbox temperature, torque, power, steering wheel angle, and accelerometer, whilst the integrated chronograph allows you to measure and record your performance during on-track sessions.
The final piece of the puzzle that ties the model together is the introduction of a new colour; Racing Matte Blue. It’s familiarity comes from being the same colour used on the Formula 1 A522 and it’s matched with the carbon fibre, microfibre, and red details around the car that have drawn inspiration directly from the Grand Prix starting grid.
