Earth Day 2023 takes place on Saturday 22nd April and this year’s theme is Invest in Our Planet, focused on engaging the more than 1 billion people, governments, institutions, and businesses who participate in Earth Day.
Their vision for change is to hold sectors accountable for their role in the environmental crisis whilst calling for bold, creative, and innovative solutions. At John Clark Motor Group we are aware of the impact that the automotive industry has on our planet and as you may be aware we have already begun to take steps to improve the impact that we have.
In March we were able to confirm that we saw our Group carbon footprint reduce by 5.74% from 4,968.72 tCO2e in 2021 to 4,683.63 tCO2e (tonnes (t) of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent (e)) in 2022. This has been achieved in part by moving to green tariffs for gas and electricity, using LED lighting across all properties in the group, and by investing in carbon offset projects in South America and Africa to make the Group Net Zero.
Our most latest move has seen us invest nearly £1m in the installation of solar panel systems in four projects with additional commitment to spend another £5m over two years to install at all other relevant sites across John Clark Motor Group.
