Jaguar & Land Rover | Queens awards 2015

Jaguar Land Rover are proud to have been awarded with a 2015 Queen's Award for 'Enterprise in Sustainable Development' for reducing the environmental impact of its products and operations. This marks the 14th Queen's award for JLR since 1967, having been awarded the Queen's Award for International Trade last year for outstanding overseas sales growth. Jaguar Land Rover are also proud to be the only automotive company to hold all three Royal Warrants , as an official supplier of goods and services to the household of HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HRH The Prince of Wales.

Key factors behind the company's 14th award include Jaguar Land Rover's world leading aluminium vehicle engineering expertise, new low-emission Ingenium engines and reductions in operational energy, waste and water usage at its plants. The new Engine Manufacturing Centre has been designed and built with strong emphasis on sustainability, including the UK's largest rooftop solar panel installation, which will generate up to 30% of the site's energy.

The award, which was announced during 'Responsible Business Week' also celebrates JLR's approach to social, economic and leadership dimensions of sustainable development. They are helping to address the UK skills gap, with a training programme aimed at schoolchildren (STEM initiatives), recruitment of over 2,000 Apprentices and Graduate Engineers in the past five years and on-going training to develop engineering skills within it's workforce.

Applying the 'Whole LifeCycle' approach to vehicle development, which aims to reduce enivonmental impact throughout the lifecycle of the vehicle, from raw materials through to eventual vehicle disposal, JLR have succeeded in significantly reducing CO2 emissions.

The design and manufacture of aluminium-intensive vehicles, using closed loop processes, help to drive recycled content and reduce environmental impacts across the lifecycle, resulting in higher fuel efficiency, lower emissions, improved crash safety and improved vehicle dynamics. In addition, the introduction of a new range of highly efficient, low emission aluminium four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines called 'Ingenium' have been developed to power both new Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles.Text here ...
