If you are looking to bring a little adventure into your life you need to take a close look at the Jaguar F-Type. Impressively crafted to turn heads, this grand tourer brings a sharp appearance and a deliberately bold chassis to give it real presence on the road.
While aspects of its appearance does come across a little old-school it does it in an elegant way that injects modern appeal into these classic elements of the body. Don’t mistake this as a representation of what this car offers though, the F-Type is fast, unyielding, and incredibly feature-rich as standard. Truly a great used Jaguar to pick up.
Exterior
The body of the F-Type is meticulously crafted to turn heads. It has a clamshell bonnet that is hinged at the front. Perhaps a little bit of a pain for mechanics but does add a little visual interest.
The 2020 update has given it a dramatic facelift. It really does look like a brand new car. The size did not change; it does however look a bit longer than it did before. The nose of the car is a little longer and lower. It brings real presence on the road. To improve durability Jaguar has even designed the entire side of the car as a single panel. This keeps the car strong and gives the exterior a clean, minimalist feel.
Interior & Practicality
As the F-Type is a sports car by design, the interior room was never the focus. That said you’ll still have enough space to back belongings for a weekend away. The boot offers 300-litres of storage capacity. The front cabin is particularly spacious though and will be comfortable for long journeys. To keep your devices charged you also have two USB ports and a 12 volt charger.
The cabin has also been packed with drive enhancing features. It has a 10-inch infotainment screen, digital dials on the dashboard and the ability to switch through layouts from the steering wheel. On board systems even get updates over the air automatically.
Performance
As with any high-performance car the F-Type boasts responsive handling and rapid acceleration. The range-topping 5.0-litres V8 tears from 0-60 in as little as 3.5 seconds. Even the least powerful option can do it in 5.7 seconds making this car a speed demon on the road with this robust performance. Braking is also solid and reliable too. If you buy a new 2020 update of the F-Type you’ll benefit from the reworked suspension. On the new model it is a bit firmer and more responsive.
A nice feature Jaguar have added to this grand tourer is that it starts in a quiet mode. This will help you not become the least popular person on your street. Of course, it is possible to not start in this mode if you prefer.
Engines & Trims
The F-Type is available in a wide range of engines and trims. For the engines these start with a 2.0-litre P300 and increase in power until you reach the monstrous 5.0-litre V8. Each of these models come with an 8 speed automatic gearbox that switches between gears very smoothly. You do also have aluminium gear shifters on the side of the steering wheel if you prefer too.
When it comes to trims you have the choice between R, R Dynamic, and R Dynamic Black.
