New Kia PV5 Cargo

The Kia PV5 Cargo

International Van of the Year 2026: Available at John Clark Kia Peterhead

The Kia PV5 Cargo is an all-electric light commercial vehicle representing a new generation of purpose-built vehicles (PBVs). Designed to inspire movement in the logistics and delivery sectors, it features a modular design based on a dedicated electric platform and is Kia's first electric van in its range.

It offers flexible fleet management solutions with multiple battery options, allowing businesses to choose the balance of range, business tools, and payload that best suits their needs. Engineered for both efficiency and utility, the PV5 Cargo delivers substantial cargo capacity within a practical, modern exterior.

Kia's PBV platform will offer multiple body types across the range including cargo (Kia PV5 Cargo), the passenger version (Kia PV5 Passenger), and a wheelchair accessible vehicle. Kia's customer centric vision with its innovative and flexible EV, which Kia directly manufactures, will enable fleet customers to have a cutting edge vehicle experience on every journey.

Early Kia PV5 reviews are incredibly positive and the PV5 has been awarded the International Van of the Year Award, an incredible achievement for a brand new model. It follows in the footsteps of other well established models such as the Volkswagen ID Buzz Cargo, Renault Master, and Ford Transit.

Kia PV5 Cargo Design

The Kia PV5 Cargo is built on Kia’s advanced EV platform, the E-GMP.S (Electric Global Modular Platform for Service), which offers enhanced spaciousness and durability. It reflects the real needs of PBV users by providing modular flexibility and structural safety which makes it well designed for every type of user’s journey.

It offers a lower height than other models in the segment and forward-shifted power electric models which creates more space and makes it easier to load into. There are fewer obstacles in the way and Kia advise that items like two-euro pallets will slide in with ease with its maximum cargo space.

The cargo area itself measures at 1,520mm tall by 1,565mm wide and 2,255mm long whilst the loading height is just 419mm. Payload varies on the setup of your PV5 Cargo model: 790kg on a 3 door standard range and 690kg on a 3 door long range, and 745kg on a 4 door standard range and 645kg on a 4 door long range model. As well as this, the maximum braked trailer weight is 750kg on all models with a maximum roof load capacity of 100kg. This makes taking all items, including irregular shaped cargo, incredibly easy.

Kia PV5 Cargo Interior

The interior of the Kia PV5 Cargo prioritises a functional and connected workspace with smart business solutions throughout the interior. All models have a 12.9” touchscreen navigation in the centre console and a separate 7.5” driver display screen which work with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It offers access to a wide app marketplace and over the air updates to keep you connected with the latest for your personal and business needs.

The seat materials are designed to be resistant to stains, heat, and everyday wear to maintain a cabin that is clean and refined with passengers or cargo on board whilst your devices can stay charged with a wireless charger or USB port connection. Some models also allow for the charging of larger devices, such as laptops, with vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality which makes the PV5 Cargo an excellent option for keeping you connected to work, wherever you are.

Kia PV5 Cargo Performance

At launch, the PV5 Cargo offers two battery sizes: front wheel drive standard range and front wheel drive long range.

The standard range models use a 51.5 kWh battery for 120hp and maximum torque of 250Nm. Most importantly though, it offers a combined range of 184 miles and can be charged from 10-100% in up to 7 hours on standard AC charging. Utilising fast charging points up to 150kW it can charge 10-80% in just 30 minutes.

The long range models have a bigger battery pack, as the name suggests, utilising a 71.2kWh battery for 160hp and 250Nm of torque. The combined range increases to 258 miles on a single charge, but charging times are increased on AC chargers too, up to 10 hours on a standard point. However a rapid DC charging point up to 150kW will still give you 10-80% in 30 minutes.
