With the guidance of Land Rover Classic's experienced restoration team, customers can choose their preferred base vehicle, and even follow the restoration from start to finish at Land Rover's new Classic workshop located within the original Defender production centre in Solihull.
The first step involves sourcing an original vehicle. Drawing upon decades of experience, Land Rover Classic's expert team hand-pick a Series 1 chassis from Land Rover's global network.
Then, before the team being any work, the vehicle undergoes a thorough in-depth examination, uncovering exactly what needs to be restored, and performing a physical check against the original build specifications.
Next, the vehicle is dismantled so that its panels can be restored, before being painted in either one of five original colours, including Light Green, Bronze Green, RAF Blue, Dove Grey and Poppy Red. The interior is also completely stripped back, with the seats re-covered in the customer's choice of original material. Of Paramount importance to any vehicle is its engine, which is stripped and rebuilt to ensure it will keep going for a long time to come.
All components are refinished to vehicle's original 1948 cosmetic specification, and using Land Rover Classic Parts to preserve authenticity, before it is handed over to the customer.
And, each restored classic comes with a 12-month or 12,000 mile manufacturer warranty, as well as a lifetime of history, before its next chapter begins.
