New Nissan X-Trail Acenta Premium

The Nissan X-Trail brings an impressive SUV to an already crowded market. While it is not the most spacious in its class, it does bring a solid option for anyone looking for a visually appealing, spacious cabin, with solid build quality.

The X-Trail is now in its third generation since 2014 and is a brilliant addition to this crowded market.

Inside the X-Trail is slightly less practical than previous generations but does have a more premium feel. This modern appeal and ample passenger space in this SUV can make it an incredibly attractive option for anyone looking to have a luxurious commute. It benefits from plenty of passenger and cabin space. There is even a third row of seating that can offer additional passenger space, it is worth noting that it is best for children if you are driving a long distance.

Storage space is also generous in the X-Trail with the boot having 550-litres of boot space. You will have no trouble doing the weekly shop, or packing enough for a family weekend adventure with that capacity.

The running costs of the X-Trail are fairly typical for an SUV. It will need to be serviced annually. Fuel economy is also decent for an SUV getting between 46 and 50mpg.

Which Used Nissan X-Trail Are Available?

There is no shortage of trims available for the X-Trail. Even at the entry level it comes pretty well kitted out. Featuring 17” alloys, air conditioning, a multi-functional steering wheel, LED daytime running lights, and cruise control.

Then at the next level there is the Acenta. It brings a wide array of safety features that includes a safety kit, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition. It even has front and rear parking sensors to ensure you are not damaging your new Nissan when parking.

To enhance comfort and practicality the Acenta features dual-zone climate control, automatic lights and wipers, electric folding and heated door mirrors, and a panoramic roof. There is also an Acenta Premium that enhances this trim with a 360-degree around view camera system and a touch screen with a sat-nav if you are looking for something with a more luxurious feel.

Then there is the N-Connecta. Along with the rest of the features the other X-Trails offer this level adds in a few more premium features such as 18” alloys, roof rails, an electric boot, and keyless entry and start.

Then at the next level there is the N-Tec. This one is a limited edition model so you might not find it commonly seen in used Nissan offerings dealerships have. However, if you do manage to pick one up you will benefit from a more rugged body, gloss black alloy wheels, and parking assist.

Now, if none of those models quite meet your needs, perhaps you need a Tekna trim level X-Trail. Sitting at the top of the range the Tekna brings 19-inch wheels, a Bose sound system, LED headlights, leather upholstery, heated rear and front seats, and an additional safety kit to keep you incredibly safe. This kit features high beam assist, driver monitoring system, park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.

What Should I Look Out for When Buying a Nissan X-Trail?

So, you’ve settled on buying an X-Trail, what should you look out for. Firstly just like with any second hand car make sure it is in good condition. Take care to carefully inspect the vehicle externally and internally looking for signs or wear and tear or poor repair. You will also want to ensure it has a full service history and any major milestones have been adhered to.

There are a few X-Trail specific quirks you will want to keep an eye out for. The start/stop button at times doesn’t work properly; it can mean the car is overdue for service or could indicate that a new battery is required.

Sunroofs can squeak and rattle a little when the car is driven over uneven roads. If you notice this on your test drive you’ll want to mention this to the dealer as they will be able to fix it.

Another thing to look out for is that central locking solenoids are working. If broken this will mean doors are unable to lock or unlock. Just ensure that all doors work and you are likely good to go.
