The new Škoda Kamiq facelifted model was unveiled in 2023 alongside the updated Škoda Scala model. As a subcompact crossover SUV it sits as the smallest in Škoda's line up of SUV models, directly underneath the Škoda Karoq and competes against other small crossover SUV models such as the VW T-Cross, Ford Puma, and the Nissan Juke.
With the Kamiq, the go-anywhere capabilities of the small SUV are packaged in a playfully creative design. Inside, it is as attractive and functional as ever with a long list of comfort, connectivity and safety features.
For information about the previous version of the Škoda Kamiq, see our Škoda Kamiq review.
The updated Škoda Kamiq exterior has more rugged looks to tie in with its appeal as an SUV. This includes a larger and more upright grille and a robust silver diffuser with three openings for typical SUV underbody protection.
The painted section of the front apron and the wide air intake with a three-dimensional mesh emphasise the width of the new Kamiq whilst 17 inch and 18 inch alloy wheels are available across the range as well as a panoramic sunroof, adding to the enhancement of the model.
The headlight unit is now slimmer and more sharply drawn with TOP Matrix LED headlights and LED front fog lights and at the rear of the new Kamiq you'll find LED fog lights integrated into the rear bumper and redesigned TOP LED tail lights meaning that you'll always have excellent visibility in all conditions.
The new interior is family-friendly yet very driver-focused and built with style as a priority. The dashboard has a choice of new upholstered décors made of fabric, Microsuede or the new Carbon look. These are matched by the redesigned seat upholstery for all trim levels: SE, SE Drive, SE L Executive, and Monte Carlo
The dominant features include the 8” Digital Instruments Display behind the steering wheel and the new touchscreen infotainment system in the middle of the dashboard. This offers you Wireless Smartlink for Apple Carplay and Android Auto alongside 4 USB-C fast charging ports.
There's plenty of space in both the passenger seat and the rear seats, even without sliding rear seats that some competitors offer, and boot space of 400 litres with all five seats in use. Folding the rear seats down opens the space up further to 1395 litres of cargo space and there are further Simply Clever features throughout the spacious cabin which provide great storage solutions.
The engine range for the new Škoda Kamiq includes three petrol engines which offer both manual and automatic gearbox options so that you can choose a setup that suits your driving needs.
These turbocharged petrol engines offer either 95PS, 116PS, or 150PS with a 1.0 TSI or 1.5 TSI capacity. These also offer a five speed manual gearbox, six speed manual gearbox, or seven speed automatic DSG gearbox across the range and fuel economy that ranges up to 52.2mpg combined.
Whilst the new Kamiq hasn't yet been tested independently by Euro NCAP, the previous model version received a top 5 star rating and the new model features many of the same innovative safety and driver assistance systems. This includes rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping system, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking which gives pedestrian protection.
