The T-Roc is a new addition to the burgeoning Volkswagen range. Released in 2017, this mini-SUV has received a very positive critical reception from the automotive press. Autocar, for instance, declared that the Volkswagen T-Roc “is one of countless compact crossovers introduced over the past six months, but it stands well clear of most.”
Available in S, SE, Design and SE L trim levels, the Volkswagen T-Roc, in addition to being very comfortable to travel in, is surprisingly roomy. It easily accommodates four full-size adults and is ideal for a young family of five. There’s space, too, for a 445-litre boot, which beats, for example, the Audi Q2’s 405-litre capacity. With rear seats dropped, luggage volume expands to as much as 1,532 litres.
As well as standard features such as power-operated front and rear windows and automatic two-zone climate control, the Tiguan is installed with a six-speaker sound system, featuring DAB radio. An eight-inch touchscreen is included too, as are AUX, USB, SD and Bluetooth connectivity. SE L grades and higher, meanwhile, also feature satellite navigation.
Awarded a maximum five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating, the T-Roc comprises a wide range of driver aids and passive safety features. For instance, Autonomous Emergency Braking automatically applies braking pressure in order to prevent low-speed collisions.
The T-Roc VW possesses an appealingly chunky four-door body. In tandem with its raised ride height, this SUV cuts something of a dash, whether in motion or parked in the driveway. The car is fitted with eye-catching 16-inch alloy wheels as standard, and possesses a number of body-coloured fixtures, such as bumpers, door handles and door mirrors. The latter are fitted with integrated indicators, and further illumination includes LED daytime running lights that make the vehicle easily visible to other road users.
A 1.0-litre 115bhp petrol engine is installed as standard with S, SE and Design trims. Returning as much as 55.4mpg and producing CO2 emissions as low as 117g/km, this is the most fuel-efficient option available for the VW T-Roc. If you require optimal performance levels, a 2.0-litre 190bhp petrol unit – available with SE L grades – is the ideal choice. This 4x4 engine produces 190bhp and 0-60mph in roughly seven seconds, while managing up to 41.5mpg.
