Alpine A110 Wins “Fun Car of the Year” At Parkers New Car Awards 2024​​

The Alpine A110 was awarded the “Fun Car of the Year” at the Parkers New Car Awards 2024, beating out tough competition from the BMW M2 and the Ford Ranger Raptor. Parkers said that from the shortlisted trio the Alpine A110 was the clear winner and that its facelifted model sharpened it enough to push it ahead of its rivals.

Its low weight was a large factor in naming it the Fun Car of the Year as it’s far lighter than most sports cars on the market. The Alpine design team took inspiration directly from the iconic A110 berlinette to focus on the aerodynamic development and took technical solutions directly from the world of motorsport.

This includes an integral flat floor and a full aluminium chassis with riveted and bodywork elements as weight-saving measures. This is matched with extensive use of carbon fibre across the entire model and attention to detail that allows the driver to feel every sensation throughout the car.

The 1.8 litre engine is more economical than rivals, another point that the Parkers judges gave it, meaning that it’s a more efficient and cheaper car to run than similar models such as the Porsche Cayman. Although they also noted that you “don’t have to push as hard or travel as fast as you would in a Porsche Cayman to feel like you’re involved in the driving experience.”

They also commended its steering for how it handles, particularly on twisty roads, which really enhances its fun-feel when driving. Looking at the stats it has a 300hp with 340Nm of torque available from 2400 to 6000rpm and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. It can also reach a phenomenal 285km/h on track!
