An Evening with Sir Jackie Stewart, OBE for Race Against Dementia
Thursday 7th May | 6:20pm

We are truly delighted to welcome you to what promises to be a very special and memorable evening in support of Race Against Dementia, founded by Sir Jackie Stewart.

Set within the breathtaking surroundings of Edinburgh Castle, this is a rare opportunity to step into history, connect with remarkable people, and be part of something deeply meaningful.

Travel & Parking

Please note:
There is no parking at the Castle Esplanade.

If you are driving:

  • We recommend Castle Terrace Car Park (EH1 2EW)
  • Approximately a 5-minute walk, including a steep uphill approach

Alternatively:
Taxis and private vehicles can access the castle entrance directly.

If you require assistance:
We would be pleased to arrange vehicle access to the Great Hall entrance. Please contact us in advance to coordinate this.

Arrival & Access

As Edinburgh Castle remains a working military base, access is carefully coordinated.

  • Please arrive promptly at 6:20pm at the Castle Drawbridge
  • Guests will be escorted together to the Great Hall

We kindly ask for punctual arrival to ensure a smooth and seamless experience for all.

As this is an active military base and a privilege to dine here, please note that the castle does not offer the same amenities as a hotel, and the beverage selection is limited. However, we have carefully selected a range of beautiful wines to complement the meal.

The evening will conclude at 11pm

Dress Code

The evening is Black Tie.

We encourage you to embrace the elegance of the setting and enjoy the occasion in style.

Footwear & Comfort

The walk to the Great Hall is short, but the castle pathways are historic cobbled streets.

We recommend sensible footwear for arrival

There will be an opportunity to change into heeled shoes if desired once inside the Great Hall

Champagne Reception

Your evening will begin with a champagne reception, partly hosted in the courtyard of the Great Hall.

  • This portion is planned for outdoors, so a jacket or wrap is recommended
  • Guests are also warmly invited to explore the beautiful indoor rooms before dinner

About the Evening

Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime, specially curated dinner in support of Race Against Dementia.

Dementia affects over 55 million people worldwide, and through evenings like this, we move closer to hope, progress, and ultimately, a cure.

This evening is designed purely for enjoyment, connection, and inspiration:

  • There will be no auctions or raffles
  • Guests are invited simply to immerse themselves in the experience

The Great Hall

Your evening will unfold in the magnificent Great Hall of Edinburgh Castle - one of Scotland’s most iconic and historic spaces.

Completed in 1511 for King James IV, the Hall has hosted:

  • Grand banquets
  • Royal ceremonies
  • Historic gatherings across centuries

Its extraordinary timber roof, one of the finest examples of medieval craftsmanship in Britain, creates an atmosphere unlike any other.

Few have ever had the privilege to dine within these walls. On this night, you will walk in the footsteps of history and become part of its story.
