Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles have won a flurry of awards in the last few weeks at the Parkers New Car Awards 2024, Solutrans 2023, and the What Van? 2024 Awards.
At the Parkers New Car Awards 2024, the Volkswagen Multivan was named the Best Seven-Seater Car for the second year in a row after being judged by a team of expert reviewers and was rigorously tested in every category.
Keith Adams, Editor at Parkers, said: “The Multivan is comfortable to drive, quieter and more refined than many similarly-priced family cars, and is packed with a whole host of technology from cutting-edge safety kit to an impressive plug-in hybrid powertrain. The good news is that the Multivan is brilliantly roomy for seven, but you can remove the seats and turn it into a convincing van – a truly dual-purpose vehicle.”
Following this, the new Volkswagen Amarok won the International Pick-Up Award at Solutrans 2023, the logistics and transport show in Lyon. The award is presented every two to three years and the 2024-2025 period marks the third time since 2011 that the Volkswagen Amarok has received the award. It is shared this time with the Range, built by cooperation partner Ford. The new model impressed the panel of judges during test drives that were held around the Greek mainland in October 2023.
Jarlath Sweeney, President and Chairman of the International Van of the Year and International Pick-up Awards jury, said: “Following the IPUA 2023 Group Tests, held in Greece last month, the new Amarok impressed. Although a collaboration project, the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Design Team has managed to maintain the company’s unique styling and driving traits, which customers will testify.
“This seventh running of the IPUA sees the new generation Amarok adding to the titles won in 2011 and again in 2017, with the upgraded version”, continues Sweeney.
Finally, at the What Van? 2024 Awards there were two wins for Volkswagen: Pick Up of the Year for the Volkswagen Amarok and Used Van of the Year for the Volkswagen Transporter.
The awards were selected by a wider panel of experienced judges from across the LCV sector. The Amarok impressed with its large cargo bay, comfortable and spacious interior, and its well-equipped, functional, and sophisticated interior. The Transporter was praised for its updated driver assist features, huge variety of equipment and options, and its substantial load bat volumes.
James Dallas, Editor at What Van?, said: “With a wide range of models to choose from, the Volkswagen Amarok is comfortable, refined, great to drive and outstandingly capable both on- and off-road.”
And of the ‘Used Van of the Year’ award for Transporter, he added: “With strong engines, rock solid build quality and enduringly high residual values, the Transporter’s strengths reside in its core values, making it the best used van in its class.”
