MINI is making huge changes to its in-car technology when it launches the new model family.
Stefanie Wurst, Head of the MINI Brand commented: “We are taking a massive leap into the digital world with the new MINI family and, in so doing, underscoring the charismatic heritage of the brand. The iconic central display in the new MINI family is round and will be filled with round content for the first time. I am convinced that the digital power of the new models will delight MINI customers around the world.”
At the centre of this is the MINI Interaction Unit, the first circular OLED display with a distinctively MINI-typical user interface design. It will have MINI Operating System 9 which is a MINI-specific and emotionally engaging design which has been optimised for touch control and used Android Open Source Project software for the first time.
You can choose from up to 8 MINI Experience Modes which will provide you with an immersive driving experience through the orchestrated use of light, user interface designs, drive settings, and sounds. The content and design of the optional Head-up display is also adapted accordingly.
All-electric models will have completely new sound design in the interior, a highly distinctive MINI brand sound to mark out and identify the car from the outside, jingles for the new MINI Experience Modes, and 30 new sound signals with information and warning functions.
Saying “Hey MINI” will activate the MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant which allows you to control important functions of your car by voice command, enables travel related requests or wishes and also recognises whether it is the drier or the front passenger who is speaking. This is paired with high-speed connectivity and optional 5G-capability and remote software upgrades to make sure your MINI is always up to date.
There’s also the new cloud-based MINI Navigation will give you fast and precise route information as the latest data is streamed directly into the vehicle. Charging-optimised route planning will allow drivers of MINI electric vehicles to tackle longer journeys with peace of mind.
