The vision for Audi was to create a range of vehicles that were right for our changing times.Efficiency, sustainability, and environmentally positive were some of the boxes that needed to be ticked, but without compromise to performance or functionality. Vehicles that can be powered by electricity with advanced technology, are great to drive and look fantastic.
With these goals in mind, the e-tron range was born.
The Audi e-tron can be fully electric or part electric plug-in hybrid, but whichever you choose there will be no doubt that you are driving an Audi. For many years, Audi has been combining electric motors with combustion engines in the Audi Q7 e-tron quattro and the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron.For shorter journeys both cars can be run just on batteries - emission-free motoring that’s great for the environment. Similarly, both cars can run purely on their combustion engines, or as a hybrid combination of both. With an Audi Hybrid, you really can have it all – power and economy.
The Audi e-tron quattro concept will give you a range of up to 310 miles on a single charge. It can also be recharged with a standard 340v socket - the type found in any UK home. Alternatively, charging can be completed via a custom-built wall box or by visiting a growing number of rapid-charge terminals appearing in towns all over the country. In half-an-hour your e-tron can be charged to 80% at terminals with 150kw, with a full charge taking just 50 minutes.
With 0-60mph in just 4.6 seconds available, there is no doubting the power and performance from this electric car. Plus, there is no lag felt between launching and accelerating with electric vehicles, so you will feel like you are behind the wheel of a sports car.
Aerodynamics are improved by the vehicle’s fluid design and lack of wing mirrors. Instead, the real mirrors are replaced by virtual mirrors - small cameras that relay images of the car’s surroundings to displays in the doors. With no blind spots, the driver has an expanded view and the improved air flow reduces wind noise.
There’s more improved technology inside the cabin too, with two touchscreens on the dash controlled by voice commands, enabling a more relaxed and safe drive.
