Get excited for the new Audi A7 – what to expect

The new Audi A7 has been launched and it looks hotter than ever!

Audi has launched a new version of the four-door A7 that promises to give the functionality of an estate car with the hot look and styling of a sporty coupe. Practicality doesn’t have to be boring.

Those looking for a new Audi A7 for sale won’t find that Audi has strayed too far from the original design, but there are some detail changes. There’s also a nod to the A8 in its styling, particularly at the front end. The latest edition of Audi’s single frame grille dominates the front and the LED headlights come in one of three designs. The side and roof remain the same as previous models, but the full width of the backend now boasts a LED tail light - Audi promises ‘fast moving light animations’. Keeping to its roots, the rear spoiler remains a feature and this active version comes to life after 75mph.

Size-wise, the new A7 pretty much the same as the last model - albeit very slightly shorter - but Audi has managed to add a bit more space to the cabin, increasing passenger and driver comfort. A 12-inch digital instrument display panel combines with a 10-inch multimedia infotainment display in the centre of the dash for even greater control. Plus, all major functions use touch sensitive displays and gives the dashboard a clean look, uncluttered by the lack of traditional manual controls.

Options for the model include voice control, remote parking pilot, and remote garage pilot which independently parks the vehicle in a space or a garage without the need for a driver. This technology is among a number of autonomous driving functions available. In total, the A7 features 39 driver assistant systems, some as standard and others as options. It can even feature up to five radar sensors, five cameras, and a laser scanner all operated by a central controller.

Every engine in the A7 Sportback range incorporates a mild hybrid engine system for fuel economy and progresses naturally from the new A8 by adopting the MLB Evo platform. It was launched with a single engine but four and six-cylinder petrol and diesel models are set to follow.
