New ŠKODA SCALA - price and spec confirmed

With the price and the specification released for the up-coming new ŠKODA Scala earlier this month, here is everything you need to know!

The all-new ŠKODA SCALA is a glimpse of a new direction for ŠKODA design, featuring contemporary and modern aesthetics, interior and spirit. A stand out feature on the state-of-the-art exterior is the striking SKODA lettering on its tailgate, the first ŠKODA model to adopt this characteristic. Like the ŠKODA Octavia, the SCALA is trying to crack the ‘perfect hatchback’ recipe, by connecting style, connectivity, safety and unique never seen before features on a ŠKODA such as an ice-scraper in fuel cap and not to mention a USB port beside every passenger seat.

The styling is clearly derived from the Vision RS Concept with the face of the hatchback featuring the latest evolution of ŠKODA grille, smooth bumpers, and extremely powerful silhouette. Step inside the SCALA to view the refined interior with stunning chrome elements, lux fabrics, and an awe-inspiring virtual cockpit. The ŠKODA SCALA rear is spacious with a boot capacity of 467 litres and legroom for all passengers, so no need to travel light on those family adventures again!

With the entry model starting from £16,595 (which might we add is great value for money), buyers can expect a 1.0L three-cylinder TSI petrol engine, with 113bhp and a peak torque of 200Nm. Acceleration is steady rather than strong, perfect for a family car. Along with the 1.0L engine, a 1.5L four-cylinder turbo engine is in the line-up and will produce an impressive 148bhp and 250Nm. If you prefer a diesel engine, a 1.6L diesel model with 113bhp, emitting 108kg/km of CO2 will be sold when the hatchback launches in the summer.

Following the ŠKODA tradition, three trim levels will be available: the S, SE and SE L. Standard features the new ŠKODA SCALA offers are 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, air conditioning, leather steering wheel, electric windows and 6.5-inch infotainment screen. As you go further up the spec ladder, the more impressive and shinier the features get, including cruise control and parking sensors, Apple and Android connectivity and a 9.2-inch Amundsen infotainment system.
