Used Volvo V40 for sale

The Volvo V40 has been around for a very long time. It was first released in 1996 but was phased out in 2004. Volvo relaunched this family-friendly hatchback in 2012 to replace the outgoing S40 to become an attractive, stylish hatchback in Volvo’s line-up.

This Volvo V40 is a comfortable, sizable car that has been packed with technological features and built to take any challenge that daily life throws at you. No matter if you are looking to do the school runs, nip out for the weekly shop or head off on a weekend adventure, the V40 is a serious rival to other hatchbacks in its class such as the VW Golf. Its stylish appearance will help you stand out on the road. It looks great from bonnet to boot. A great model to pick up on the used Volvo market.

How is the Volvo V40 to drive

Once you get behind the wheel of a V40 you’ll find it fun and responsive to drive. It offers great fuel economy with some models achieving 80mpg.

Interior

The interior quality of the V40 is high, as is typical in a Volvo. This model can offer premium BMW’s and Audi’s a run for their money.

Comfort in the cabin will ensure your driving experience will be relaxing and enjoyable no matter the distance. The seats and steering wheel both offer a lot of adjustment. Storage in the V40 is also ample. It features a glovebox on the passenger side, a dual cup holder with two 12 volt sockets, and door bins.

Volvo calls the V40 a five-seater but five adults might be a bit of a squeeze. Four will manage to sit comfortably.  Five will work better if you have kids in the back.

This hatchback has 324 litres of boot space. While it is a bit smaller than comparable hatchbacks such as the Volkswagen Golf and Audi A3 at 380 and 365 litres respectively. If you are looking to upgrade the space available you can put the back seats down to increase capacity to 1032 litres.

What models are available?

There are three trims to choose from. This includes Momentum, Inscription, and R-Design.

Momentum is the entry-level trim. But don’t confuse entry level with low quality, it still features alloy wheels, automatic climate control, automatic emergency braking, and a DAB radio. The Inscription trim offers a more luxury-focused design and the R-Design is a bit more sport-focused.

There are also a few options to choose from. We’ll start from the back in the boot. You can have a raised boot floor. This reduces the load lip allowing for easier filling and emptying of the boot.

You’ve also got the option of a panoramic roof with the Xenium pack. This makes the interior of the car feel light and open. You do also get keyless entry and additional parking sensors in it too. It is a pricey upgrade to get though.

There is also the Winter Pack. This upgrade is sure to keep you warm and cosy throughout the winter. It adds heated seats to keep you warm and headlamp washers to keep them clean and clear.

Safety features

One key reason you would want to buy a Volvo V40 is how safe it is. Volvo has always been renowned for making incredible safe cars and this model might well be one of the safest models in the world.

It achieved the full five stars on Euro NCAP’s safety test. And scored incredibly well across the board. Adult safety almost scored full marks at 98%, children came in at 88%, pedestrians at 88%, and an impressive 100% on safety.

To get these scores Volvo has packed the V40 with an array of impressive safety features. These include hill start assist, type pressure monitoring, an array of airbags, side-impact protection, and automatic emergency braking at all levels.
