The Volkswagen ID Buzz gives us the strongest signal yet of VW's future direction of travel. The ID Buzz is a welcome addition to the ever-expanding, all-electric VW ID range and channels the spirit of Volkswagen's iconic camper.

The ID Buzz was initially teased as a concept, which Volkswagen have now built from the ground up as a production version of an electric vehicle, in keeping with the move away from traditional petrol and diesel engines. The all-new ID. Buzz is more than capable of meeting the needs of commercial buyers and travellers alike as it offers much more room than an electric family car. Its success as a passenger version means that Volkswagen have also branched out to a full commercial vehicle, the Volkswagen ID Buzz Cargo.

Since its launch it has already won a plethora of awards, cementing its place as a powerhouse in the electric vehicle market. One of its crowning achievements is being named the overall winner at the What Car? Car of the Year Awards in 2023 where it also took home the award for Best Large Electric Car of the Year, a glowing Volkswagen ID Buzz review.

Volkswagen ID.Buzz Exterior

At first glance, the Volkswagen ID Buzz is clearly inspired by the original Volkswagen Type 2, first produced in 1949, and has a design that remains true to the heritage of the model.

It has, of course, been modernised in line with the rest of the ID family with a range of features which includes a dynamic front grille and bumper and is optionally available in two tone paint for additional styling. The design is finished with 19 inch, bi-colour alloy wheels as standard, for a sleek and stylish

LED headlights and LED rear combination lights make for clear visibility in all conditions and opting to upgrade your trim level adds Volkswagen's IQ.LIGHT, LED matrix headlights with automatic headlight control, poor weather lighting, and entry lighting.

The standard model has a small turning circle of just 11.1 metres, making it easier to manoeuvre when parking and setting up to camp. There's also a towing capacity of up to 1100kg, putting it on par with many medium sized vans.

Volkswagen have also introduced a long wheelbase version of the ID Buzz. Volkswagen ID Buzz with a long wheelbase is expected to become available in 2024.

Volkswagen ID.Buzz Interior

The interior of the Volkswagen ID Buzz is a calm and comfortable place to sit, with a completely redesigned interior that offers plenty of legroom and comfortable and adjustable seats for complete flexibility. This makes it an excellent option for family travel over more traditional electric cars and premium SUV models due to its adaptability.

With all five seats in use you're still able to take advantage of 1121 litres of cargo storage space which almost doubles to 2205 litres if you fold the rear seats down. This is paired with handy features such as the Buzz Box, a removable centre console with storage compartments and mounting points in the vehicle floor between the front seats which means that you always have additional space when you need it.

You'll find innovative technology throughout the front of the cabin within easy reach of the driver and front passenger. This includes a digital cockpit behind the steering wheel and a 10 inch Discover Pro navigation and infotainment system which comes with "Streaming & Internet" fully integrated. The systems are also able to be updated remotely thanks to over the air updates. Voice control, wireless phone charging, and a total of 7 USB-C charging sockets throughout the interior give you complete connectivity, wherever you are.

A mode 3 type 2 cable comes with every ID Buzz and allows you to connect to the previously mentioned rapid DC charging points or conventional home wallbox chargers which will allow you to fully charge the battery capacity in 7 hours and 30 minutes.
